Initially I began using Twitter as a professional networking medium and I shared links to my favorite health related articles, news clips, and educational videos. By posting useful links to current research, I created a personal on-line library of potential teaching tools.
When educating my savvy, free-thinking NYC patients, I no longer say, “I read something somewhere,” or “I think I saw it on the news a while back.” I am able to instantly access links on my Twitter feed that support my teaching. My patients are grateful for the information and are more likely to be compliant.
